We pride ourselves with having an open access surgery every morning so that patients can see a doctor Monday to Friday within 24 hours. Patients need to come to the surgery between 8.30 am and 10.30 am to be given an approximate appointment timeslot. You may then leave the premises to return at your approximate appointment timeslot. We usually have two doctors carrying out the morning surgery. Unfortunately the number of appointments has to be capped to enable them to carry out other work and so there may be instances where the walk in surgeries are full.
In order to help us to help you if you make an appointment and find that you cannot keep it please let the surgery know so that it can be given to someone else who needs to be seen by a doctor. You never know when it may be you who requires an urgent appointment.
We also offer a service which you can book your doctors appointment online. Please call into reception to register your details with photo ID and you will be given a user ID and password to enable you to create your online account. Once this has been done, you will be able to book and cancel your doctors appointments online for all the afternoon and evening appointments. Open surgery is excempt from this facility.
Patients have the right to see any doctor they wish and not just the doctor whose name appears on their medical card. We have an open surgery between 8.30am to 10.30am every day. You may have to wait longer to see a doctor of your choice. If one doctor is particularly busy the receptionists may ask you to see another doctor.
Nurse and Health Care Assistants
We have either a Nurse or Health Care Assistant available for pre-bookable appointments most days.
If appropriate, you may be advised to book a telephone consultation with one of the doctors.
If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30am if you require a home visit.
A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
In order for you to get the most of your appointment and to ensure you're getting the best care, please:
- Tell us what the problem is so we can book you with the most suitable clinician
- Tell us if there is more than ONE problem as you will need more time for the appointment
- Be on time for your appointment
- Ring us if you would like to cancel your appointment OR if you have Patient Access you can cancel online
- If you are making an appointment for a result check that we have received it BEFORE you come in
There is disabled access and toilet facilities at the practice. If you require any arrangements when attending the practice please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can accomodate your needs.
